Kindergarten Field Trip

Enjoying her sandwich and fruit at Zupas

I got to go with Hannah on her field trip to Discovery Gateway.  We went to Zupas and had some lunch together.  I love spending one on one time with her.  We have so much fun together!  Mrs. Haslam had it all organized and ready when we got there.  She had all the groups color coded so you knew which kids you needed to keep track of.  I had the pink "ladies".  I ended up with five little girls to keep track of.

We loaded into the bus and were on our way!  All of the kids were excited and the bus was full of giggles and plenty of chatting.  Sure is cute to watch the kids interact with one another.  At Discovery we all went into a room and they gave us our instructions...all of the kids put on red smocks and the adults all had lanyards to wear so we could keep track of our group.  After that, we were off!

We all had a fun day together.  It was funny to watch all of the parents going around counting kids.  I had one that liked to wonder off from time to time.  We played and played and had a good time so that is all that matters.  Hannah is a fun class of kids and her teacher is wonderful.  The bus ride home was super loud, all the kids sharing stories from the afternoon.  I think all the parents were worn out and happy to know that all the kids were on the bus.  Good times!!

Dancing Queen

Monday was the big Dance By Denise recital.  Hannah took Tap and Jazz again.  She loves to dance and has had a good time learning these two dances.  This time they did their tap dance to Hit the Road Jack and the Jazz was to Witch Doctor.
Waiting for the recital to start

A Big Thank You to them for coming!!
Best Buds....Christian and Hannah
Hannah and Christian both did a great job!  We loved watching them perform. I might be prejudice but I think these are two are pretty cute.  It's fun to have them dancing in the same class together.  Hopefully they will remain the best of buds forever.  Hannah is turning into a little "Dancing Queen".  We are so proud of her.  Great job Hannah!

Grandpa Layton's 70th Birthday

Scott's dad turned 70 this year and that's cause for a party.  We made the trip up to Idaho to celebrate with the rest of the family.  It was fun to watch/listen to all the cousins running and playing.  They always have a great time together.

Scott's dad is impossible to buy for.  We have a hard time finding something for him.  Since this was a special birthday we made him some flowers out of money.  They turned out okay and I'll know what needs to be done if I ever do this again.  It's going to take him awhile to unfold them and figure out how much is there.

She LOVED holding this little guy.  We were super excited to finally get to meet him.

The kids were both troopers.  We spent a lot of time in the car but it was worth it to see everyone and get to spend some time visiting and celebrating Grandpa's big day.

Grandpa Mestek - SL Bike Marathon 2012

My amazing dad has done this ride for the past few years.  I get up at the crack of dawn to see him off at the start line and then mom and I drive his car and wait for him at the finish line.  This year was no different.  We were up at the start line and he was getting all ready to go.  One final picture before he headed out......or so we thought. (Take a look at the shoes he's wearing....ooopps!)  Dad forgot his bike shoes and only had loafers on.  NOT a good thing!  So, promptly packed up his bike and we were headed back to the house.
Dad decided he could start the race along the route and be able to ride most of the ride.  After a quick shoe change we headed to a spot near Sugar House park.  The bike was unloaded and he was off.  I snapped a quick picture as he headed off.  I figured that one day he would find a little humor in it and we should document it....  Dad did great and was able to enjoy the rest of his ride.  He's always giving me a hard time about not getting his entire bike in my pictures so I made sure to capture is all this time.  Great job dad!  You are amazing!!
